Howdy all,
Just in case you didn’t know, I got to spend some time in Grapevine, Texas on this month! I went to Nash Farm, and boy did I have some fun. Thomas Jefferson Nash ran the farm a long time ago, and this was a little celebration to remember the past, and see how it shaped our future.
There were lots of different activities, and things to do, which I got to do a lot of! They had a little museum which went through the history of the farm, and how they used to live, back in the day. To be honest, it didn’t look that different from living out on the range. Heck, they even had a stove! When I was out on a drive, I was lucky to have a good skillet over an open fire.
They had a lot of other things. There was of course music, it could have been a little bit louder, but who am I to say anything. I had my guitar and wanted to jump right in. get a good jam session going, but they were in a pretty good groove, and I didn’t want to throw that off.
I was missing my horse a little bit, so I had to go ride the horses. They were a little bit smaller than I liked, and I think I spooked them a little bit, but it was a great trip down memory lane.
There were lots of animals there, not just the horses. I got to pet a sheep, which got a pretty bad haircut, but the nice lady that was with it, told me I would get the same, so I booked it for the cotton field. I went and picked some cotton, and got talked to some people over there. Some folks were teaching people how the cotton from the plant got to the yarn and fabric we use every day. And there was one display that I was a little confused about. It was a trailer that opened up on the side, and it had a lot of cotton products in bowls inside the truck, but the sign hanging over the display said “BEEF”! who knows what that was about, but I do know that we had a great time there!
Now there was a tractor ride, but I didn’t have time to ride that. I just sat in the line a little bit and talk to some of the people who were looking forward to ride.
So after a good day of music and fun, I was pretty beat, but I hope that if I didn’t see you then I will see you soon!
